Overview

ExxonMobil is one of the world's largest publicly traded energy and chemical companies. It explores for and produces crude oil and natural gas, makes fuels, lubricants, and chemicals, and is building lower-emission businesses such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, and lithium. It reports through four segments: Upstream, Energy Products, Chemical Products, and Specialty Products. The company traces its roots to John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil, founded in 1870; today's ExxonMobil was formed in 1999 through the merger of Exxon and Mobil. It is headquartered in Spring, Texas.
