Overview

GameStop is a specialty retailer of games and entertainment products. It sells new and pre-owned video game hardware, software, and accessories, along with collectibles and trading cards, through its stores and e-commerce sites, and buys back used products from customers through trade-ins. In 2025 the company added bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset. GameStop traces its roots to Babbage's, a software retailer that James McCurry and Gary Kusin founded in Dallas in 1984. It is headquartered in Grapevine, Texas.
